Jeti model meeting, Hranice, 18.-19.8.2007

I attend model show Jeti model meeting for a number of years now, and I did not miss this years event, already thirteenth ! The event took place at Hranice aeroclub airfield and it was well organized, as in the past years. The number of models and modellers was again a bit higher than year before, there were 97 registered pilots and a number of others who brought their models but did not register. Audience was plentiful, even some modelling gadgets were available in stands and car trunks, sometimes for a nice price. Simply typical model show, one of domestic elite ones.

I'm not gonna describe the event as a whole, this was done in all model magazines. I will focus on models which can be put into RC miniscale categories and which are usually omitted in official reports due to the flood of giant and show models. But to be honest there were less miniscales than before and I think that their lonely flights were not accepted all that well. The model for such show looks different now and audience wants to see something more than what can bee seen on every club airfield. However, there is a solution to this problem - the mass flights of small models and luckily some modellers are aware of that. So at the beginning we could see joint show of ducted fans models of Alfa model company, unfortunatelly marked with one of the few crashes, when after the receiver failure all what was left from one Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a pile of Depron. In next mass flight, propellar models this time, I attended three Alfery family members and hopefully we brought the atmosphere of WWII combat between two Spitfires Mk.V and Fw-190D by Alfamodel piloted by father Alfery and his sons together with my Me-109G by FSK. Following flight of the same pilots but different models brought together two twin engine miniscales, Bristol Beaufighter by Alfa with retracts and flaps and my new De Havilland Mosquite by FSK. There was only one more joint show - known and choreographically well made combat of Boeing B-17 by Petr Hrubeš, Twin Mustang by Tomáš Ciniburk and Me-110. Flight was peppered with pyrotechnical effects and the final perception was very good plus it had certain thematical axis, in contrast to the previously described joint flights which were more just a free flying of group of airplanes. It is a shame that Twin Mustang and mainly Me-110 are more of a free variations of the originals, we can not put these models into scale category.

I alse want to mention two Zlin Z-50, one from EPP and second from the Styrolan company kit. The later one had a great finish and was performing some fine aerobatics, and thus it broke my subconscious feeling that this type is not suitable for a model.

And that is about everything what caught my attention regarding miniscale on this year's JMM. The strong wind probably caused that some of the pilots only presented their models statically, some even left their models in save shelter of the car.
